Whether you’re a complete beginner at drawing or just wanting to improve your skills, I found YouTube to be an amazing resource. There are tons of channels dedicated to teaching drawing fundamentals and they’re all completely free! I wanted to explore the channels on youtube a bit more and show some of my favorites that I loved watching and learning from. I also wanted to find some that offered a bit more variety to what they’re teaching.
Art for Kids Hub is the first YouTube channel I found and really enjoyed using. They provide step-by-step tutorials that are easy to follow along with, regardless of skill level. Although the drawing may look complicated at first, they do a great job breaking it down into easier steps. The creator also makes videos alongside his kids, which make the videos very lighthearted and fun. It’s a great channel if you want to practice basic shapes and cartoon characters.
The channel Jazza is also a great resource for learning how to draw. He covers a lot of fundamental skills like shading and proportion but keeps it engaging by throwing in fun challenges. He also has some cool digital art tutorials if anyone is interested in that at all. I definitely recommend checking out this channel if you’re wanting to build on your skills and get some creative inspiration.
The last channel I want to talk about is RapidFireArt. This channel has more of a focus on realistic drawing techniques by providing step-by-steps guidance. It’s great for practicing things like shading, proportions and facial features. The straightforward instructions and close-up demonstrations make it easy to try the techniques and really help learn the fundamentals.
I linked my favourite video from each creator above but if you’re interested in checking out what else they have to offer, I will also post a link to their channels.

Whether you want to practice basic shapes or experiment with different techniques, YouTube is packed with free, high-quality tutorials. I’m excited to keep exploring and hope that the channels I provide inspire some of you to look at some YouTube tutorial videos.
